Irfan Pathan-Shivangi plan to marry
Like any other celebrity Irfan Pathan's love affair has come under intense media glare but what turns one off is the Hindu-Muslim angle given to their proposed marriage.
Irfan's lady love, Shivangi, a chartered accountant, by profession, lives in Canberra. A Gujarati, she is the daughter of a bureaucrat with the Indian embassy.
Ironically certain papers, especially Hindi newspapers, have highlighted their marriage as if a Hindu-Muslim marriage is a rarity in this country. Irfan's family has given its nod and his parents have expressed their happiness over the marriage.
There are millions of people marrying in different castes and religions and it adds to communal harmony. I read at a forum, the headline that it will be another girl leaving Hindu fold. Isn' it childish. The writer obviously didn't mention Manyata, as an addition to Hinduism, after her marriage to Sanjay Dutt.
Inter-religious marriages should be encouraged as they strengthen the communal harmony and integration of the country. Let's not communalize these things. Best wishes to the young couple.

Hey guy’s why are you interfering in his personal life. I was thinking that I am living in the 21st century, and no one is so keen about the caste in this world, but I was wrong. Don’t know why these people are guiding him not to marry her, it is his personal life and he has every right to do whatever he wants to.

What does "communal harmony" have to do with the marriage? Muslims of India enjoy more freedoms than Muslims living in Islamic theocracies. They have a special civil code, they get to go on Hajj at Government expense, they enjoy special rights and the PM has also pledged that the Indian Muslims have the first right over India's assets!
And lets us suppose that "communal harmony" can be achieved through marriage, why dont Muslims allow their daughters to marry Hindus? Why is the traffic a one way traffic?

The problem is that educated people like you have strong biases and look from RSS specs.
In any profession, you start counting and you will find marriages of both Muslim girls to Hindus and vice versa.
