Aajtak's 'Mahanagar ke Mard' to show Indian men are eve teasers and charcterless turns a flop

On Thursday Aaj Tak, which apparently ran out of news, tried to grab eyeballs by its 'special programme' Mahanagar ke Mard.

A girl in micro-mini was sent out on the roads as bait and the expressions of youths and men who turned to look at her, were captured by camera. The aim was to show that the most Indian men are characterless and ogle at women.

But it was a disaster from the beginning. Firstly, the woman was deliberately made to wear such a provocative dress, was in itself an unethical thing. Anybody wearing such a dress in chilly Delhi winter will invite stares.

The dress was not only short (I am not saying vulgar) but also grotesque. Eve teasing is bad. But if a man stares at a beautiful woman, it's not a crime. But the channel gave an impression as if all Indian male are such (deprived of the sight of females) and the anchor was too judgemental.

The camera captured the behaviour of many persons but probably found just one or two persons that was a bit objectionable. But the aim was sensationalizing the issue and thus it was turned an All Male Vs All Female thing.

The anchor was clearly opinionated: all Metro (urban) Men are like That. Frankly, it's human nature. If men won't look at a beautiful woman, where they will. Due to social reasons Women may not stare at men openly, but its irrational and un-biological to expect that married men won't look at other women.

Then the channel was invited reaction through opinion poll and it was again a big disaster. The first flash said 'Vote A if you blame Men' but the Second line said 'Send SMS to A if you think her short dress is to be blamed'. This flustered the viewers and strangely the Aajtak-walas noticed this blunder only after half an hour, which was then corrected.

We are neither male chauvinists nor feminists. But such cheap tricks, just for the sake of TRPs and making news out of nothing, shows the channel in poor light. After all, it is the channel's own Prabhu Chawla who salivates the most when he interviews a model or an actress from Rakhi Sawant to Mallika Sherawat.

I am a working lady and strongly believe this is unacceptable. Aaj Tak has no right to capture what a person is seeing or commenting on, unless it is done with harmful intension. If people are staring or ogling because someone is dressed inappropriately, its natural. It is not a crime. This is absurd, you can harm a persons respect by capturing him on TV like this. Unacceptable and disgusting!

It's all for cheap TRP at the expense of others. AAJ TAK has no better news to show to its viewers. It's a real shame how these news channels manipulate news by creating false sensation. I think there should be a committee like the censor board for the movies, who will confirm the authenticity of all the reality so called 'news shows'.

hindi news channels are the worst offenders in manipulating news. this is the danger when a socially responsible content like news is managed by profit making private entities. The hindi news channels are putting pressure on themselves by running preformatted shows like crime shows and special reports ,because news is free flowing and cannot be fixed ,somedays you may get hundreds of stories and other days thre will be none .when this happens the news channels resort to fake stings and entrapment

It was suppossed to be a good news channel earlier. but now news r insane , wierd.
Every news is breaking news , Horrible. they do nt hv much stuff to show. It is flooded with lots of masala
news. Most of the news r irritating. They keep repeating shots for many times till the viewer gets agitated and changes the channel. They create their own theory . I somtime hv feeling to whack the hosts or even my tv.

They shows the news in such a manner, tat it is the most important news in the whole history.

wat the hell going on in this news channel?
other news channels are much better than aaj tak.

They need to take step , else it will remain silly.

And i m nt saying this baselessly. I remember, In gaziabad murder case , a person refused to give interview to aaj tak, becoz they didnt have shown the truth. they got diverted from the main subject, and began to investigate in their own way.

They just wanted to get TRPs. They r not thinking about their market reputation.
well from my point of view. their reputation is all gone and remaining is massala news.

Women have tolerated `staring' for a very long time; it is called eve-teasing but it is actually sexual harrasment. In the Aaj Tak sting, the girl was dressed in skirts and normal jeans and a top also. But the way she was beign stared at was disgusting. This is what Indian women face when they go out to study, work, or even buy vegetables! it is just a form of bullying -- staring someone down and making them feel conscious and uncomfortable. And staring is a habit of most chauvinistic Indian men; no wonder the editor here is defending the Indian men who misbehave with women (it's the woman's fault for wearing such a dress, not the men who can't control their libidos). Disgusting!
