So who is Sahil? Just an accused or co-accused in a crime. But the 24-hr news channels threw celebrityhood not only on him but his girlfriend Sonal Chauhan and getting her live on the screens became a scoop in for electronic media (I deliberately avoid terming it as journalism).
Even the worst crimes are never given so much publicity. Sonal Chouhan had a great time. This wannabe model got such publicity she would never have expected in her lifetime. But what these so-called national channels are doing?
Every second day the channels like Ajtak, Zee, Star and Sahara throw up instant celebrities all at the cost of real news. Basic issues are sidelined and all that is frivolous is presented to the audience for consumption.
Sonal Chouhan was enjoying everybit of this attention. Already she appeared to think that she had turned a star. On Star News, she even had the CHEEK TO GIVE THE MESSAGE to the PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY. She thought she was Sonia Gandhi or even more. Huh!
