So when the court acquitted the accused in the murder of Jessica Lal, who was serving liquor at the party of socialites, dalaals and nawabzadas, the electronic channels suddenly stirred out of their slumber.
They also remembered the Nitish Katara case. Vikas Yadav's father DP Yadav demolished the anchor on CNN-IBN just when he caught her on the wrong foot. 'How can you treat us as culprit when the matter is in the court'. 'Who gave media this power?'. 'Is media above the court?". These questions were uncomfortable no doubt and the journalists who don't have an iota of knowledge about basic crime reporting were exposed in front of all viewers.
What a pity! I was sorry to see these glorified journos getting exposed so horribly. Naturally if you don't understand a dime about crime and have never worked on a beat as cub-reporter you are bound to land in this embarrassing situation someday. Do these anchors understand the difference between 'zamanat' and 'muchalka' or say hirasat and giraftari? Never even talked to a constable or even inspector and aware of not even the J of Judiciary, they start making their foolish statements and giving verdicts that ultimately show the entire media in poor light. The same happened on the sister concern, Channel 7. DP Yadav is a politician, one who must have got hundreds released from police station and you have to be familiar with the basics but then anchors try to be journos and also celebrities.
And every day hundreds of accused go scot-free. Of course, Jessica's case and mobilising the people on this issue can serve the nation well. But she was doing nothing but playing 'saqi' to the socialites, dalaals and politicians who have misused this system. She was part of that and that is why there is the outrage and surely that is the reason nothing will be allowed to happen. Yeh sab ek hi thaili ke chatte batte hain.

Bang on, mate//
if ‘tragedy’ (at the sight of a fellow journo being trashed, smashed and verbally bashed) ever tickled a funny bone, this was it — a never-say-die Sagarika saying, well, “never say die” in the face of the verbal onslaught from the don-turned-MP DP, as the press no doubt loves to say. I can’t comment on her credentials as a journalist because I haven’t known her, or her work, but her arrogance and “right” at the end of every sentence (presumably as a link to the next sentence, if not for lack of understanding) was reason enough for me to switch on to the next news channel. But poor man DP, and Khare to some extent, only forced me to go on with her inane effort to sound tough, grilling journo. Rajdeep and his team should take that catchline ‘whatever it takes’ a little less seriously. It’s a stupid ad-line anyway, “right”, Sagarika?

HYDERABAD BASED MUNSIF AND SIASAT URDU DAILY EDITORS GRAB WAQF LANDS
Urdu Media War and the Wakf properties tussle in Hyd ; MiM Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi
(Friday, Dec 09, 2005 - 09:00 pm) TeamMedia war among Urdu dailies was taken to Assembly in Hyderabad, when MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi accused Siasat and Munsif Urdu daily owners of grabbing Wakf properties and demanded stern action against them.Mr Owaisi armed with statistics and details of all Waqf Lands which are being encroached upon said govt is going soft on these editors as they are trying to threaten the govt through there newspapers .In the same breath, He also alleged that no action was taken against grabbers of Wakf properties in city and outside including Viceroy Hotel, Shaam and Sensation theatres, local reports inform. Turning his ire on owners of rival Urdu dailies, Siasat and Musif, he said, "Mr Zahid Ali Khan has illegally encroached Wakf property. He is a white collar land grabber. Why is the government keeping quite? You should put them behind bars." Shifting his heat on another Urdu daily Munsif owner, he remarked, "Mr Khan Lateef Khan...the double Khan.. too has encroached Wakf properties housing Santosh and Sapna theatres, yet no action has been taken. The government should take stringent action against encroachers of Wakf properties," he alleged. Reacting to Mr Owaisi's demand, minister for minorities welfare Mohd Fareeduddin assured that the government would enquire into the matter and would not "spare anyone however big he might be." Referring to allotment of land to one Tajuddin, he said the land was given on a lease for three years for agricultural purposes and the renewal would depend on the government He also accused them of trying to cover there illegal grabbing of land by bribing some high officals in the govt .
