No less than 13 students were killed in police firing in Meghalaya but the media was unperturbed. Had a tragedy of several times less in magnitude occurred in Gurgaon or Meerut, the entire newspapers and channels would have lapped it up.
But Meghalaya is North-East. How many newspapers and channels have a reporter in any of the other states in North East except Assam? The shoddy manner in which leading papers like HT treated the news is unfortunate and speaks volumes about the changing concers of the newspapers.
