The Times of India is all set to launch its Chennai edition next week.
The Times is again ready with aggressive marketing and going all out to lure the readers with attractive subscription rates.
Anybody can subscribe it for an entire year for a mere Rs 299 or for six months at the cost of Rs 170. Also, these subscribers who will pay this amount will be called as founder members and may get additional benefits apart from the gifts that come along with subscription like sports bag etc.
Old-timers and those who dislike Times for trivialising news, may not feel happy. But, with the Chennai launch, TOI would become in real sense, the most pan-Indian newspaper.
It has already captured Hyderabad and got a good circulation in Bangalore. Though it may take time to change the reading habits of the people of Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Times will definitely give Hindu a tough time in future.
