MediaVigil, a new media watchdog launched in Hindi

A new media watchdog has been launched.

The website has been noticed in a short period because of its incisive commentary and criticism.

The website is www.MediaVigil.com and it also has a Facebook page.

Unlike existing sites, it is more attacking and exposes the corruption in media. The website is in English but it covers English media including newspapers and TV channels.

One of the oldest websites has been TheHoot. In Hindi, Bhadas4media has been a site where journalism-related issues are discussed along with information about journalists joining or leaving the groups.

EditIndia has been among the oldest media watchdogs online. We welcome MediaVigil and hope that it would analyse the work of print and electronic media in an unbiased manner. It has been hacked also, suggesting that it has been doing its job correctly.

Let's raise a voice against Bhadas4Media website owner Yashwant Singh's arrest

News has come in that famous journalist and media website owner Yashwant Singh has been arrested in a case on the complaint of a person who holds a senior post in a TV channel.

Though it is early to comment, we are in solidarity with Yashwant Singh. If he has done something wrong, it should be investigated. The case has been registered and its fine.

But his prompt arrest and the fact that over a dozen policemen in multiple vehicles were sent to catch him, has raised questions about the entire episode. Law must take its own course. But it should not be action of vengeance.

He should not be booked with sections of IPC just because he has crossed the path of many media houses and exposed their corruption. We, at EditIndia, urge journalists to ensure that Yashwant's basic human rights are not violated and must get bail as per law.
