Trying to be different the Times of India ended with egg on its face or rather print. Saudi monarch was referred as King Abdullah, rightly so but it all of a sudden started writing just Abdullah. Then a clarification kind of editorial was published on January 27 that is even more strange.
Times tries to justify its stand though it fails miserably. It tried to say that honorofics for royalty need to be dropped now. Hey whats the problem in mentioning a king as a king. After all there is no His Highness. And later it again came back to King Abdullah.
The problem is that it preaches one thing and doest the other. Why Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and not just Ravi Shankar. Why Prez Bush as if he is President of our country. It rarely appears that US President Bush in Headline or even in text but as if he is head of the world. Anyway lot of things, leaving them for later occasion.
