Tehelka looks smart and fresh in its new look. It's good to have a standard weekly news magazine. India Today and Outlook (also The Week) must brace up to face the challenge.
At least, journalists working for Tehelka have some conviction and have an interest in taking up social issues and report from the grassroots unlike India Today that has reduced itself to money-making venture through its issues on Best Chief Ministers, Best States etc.
Everybody knows how to get to the top in these lists and how the listings are done. But lack of alternatives force us to sometime buy it, mostly during train and bus journeys for passing time. Outlook has a core dedicated readership. Anyway, it's going to be healthy competition with another weekly magazine in the market.
