NDTV surely deserved credit for the sting operation pertaining to the BMW hit-and-run case. The story of criminal lawyer RK Anand negotiating with the key witness Kulkarni in order to save Sanjeev Nanda, is one of the most important breaking stories in the recent history of the nation.
Though it may said that it is only in such high-profile cases that the media takes excessive interest and rich brats are targeted for being 'rich', the fact is that such sting operations reveal the murky practices which are often widely known but not commented upon or seen in public.
The hidden camera shows Sunil Kulkarni negotiating a monetory deal that would allow him to avoid cross-examination. Public prosecutor IU Khan's role has also raised eyebrows and so is his alleged collusion with RK Anand. In 1999, six persons were allegedly killed in a mishap when a car driven by Sanjiv Nanda had ran over them.
