Media blacks out Cobrapost sting on RSS-BJP's 'Love Jihad' conspiracy

India has a free press but when there is a major expose--a sting operation that reveals the ugly face of India's ruling party, it doesn't become big news.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest sting operations in the Indian media history and that unravelled the 'Love Jihad' mystery, was blacked out.

The manner in which TV channels ignored the sting, raise serious questions about their credibility.

Cobrapost-Gulail's sting operation showed how RSS, BJP and the other Sangh Parivar outfits were involved in spreading the canards about 'Love Jihad' to spread communal poison in the society and break Hindu-Muslim marriages.

When Cobrapost handed them videos of the BJP and its affiliate groups' leaders, talking openly about how 'Love Jihad' was a plan to harass Muslim youths and send them to jails, the TV channels needed nothing more.

The legwork was done by the journalists. The TV channels, newspapers were given everything on platter. But they didn't run the story. Clearly, either the 'majoritarian' (Hindutva) tendencies within the media, stopped them from airing these shocking videos.

Or, it was a decision from the 'Very top'. Doesn't that mean, the allegations of 'paid media' are true? Indian journalism and media today stands discredited once again due to the collective failure of the media groups to even air the content provided to them.

It would have exposed the forces that divide the country on communal lines. Sadly, our journalists, editors, media group owners, have failed miserably in this most basic test. That's Indian media's shame. The link to the entire sting operation can be seen at this website.
